Rowsley Preschool operates from Rowsley Village Hall, situated on School Lane, Rowsley. School Lane is off the A6, opposite the Peacock Hotel at the village crossroads. As you come down School Lane, the Village Hall is on the left, immediately past Haddon Hall Estate Forestry, and before the Primary School.



History and Background

Rowsley Preschool was set up in 1985 by parents in the village and has become very well respected for its high standards and professional levels of care. It is housed within the rooms of the Village Hall. There are many opportunities for both indoor and outdoor play in this bright and welcoming setting. Places are available for children from two years to four years of age.

Community Links

Community links are strongly supported, and the Preschool has a close affiliation with Rowsley C of E Primary School. The Preschool and School children share the same dinner hall at lunchtime and also visit the local wood together for Forestry School and storytelling sessions. They are also invited to join the School for pantomimes and other special occasions. On a Friday the older children join the Reception children for 'Dough Disco' which uses play dough to encourage fine motor skills in a fun way. Once a fortnight Preschool come together with the primary school for Excellence Awards, where children's achievements are celebrated. We have our own Preschool award where a child recieves an award for progress in literacy, numeracy, creativity, or outstanding effort or behaviour. Our Preschool children are able to develop a relationship with the children and teachers at their local school, helping to breakdown the barriers which are often faced by young children during the transition from Preschool to Primary Education

Our children are taken outside the setting to visit local places of interest such as Caudwell's Mill, St. Katherine's Church and local cafes and shops. They also regularly visit the local park and recreation ground. We are keen for our children to experience a range of environments and spend time outdoors
